Use the same coverage amounts
Ask for quotes using the same dwelling, belongings, liability, and living-expense limits. A lower price may reflect a lower limit or different policy terms.
Compare what you would pay after a loss
Look at each deductible, including any deductible that applies to a particular kind of damage. Ask the team to explain the amount you would pay in dollars.
Check how claims are valued
Replacement-cost and actual-cash-value coverage can produce different payments. Actual cash value generally accounts for depreciation. Ask which approach applies to your home, roof, and belongings.
Read exclusions and optional coverage
Review flood, water backup, and other exclusions. Ask about endorsements or separate policies for risks you want to address.
Bring the details that affect your quote
Have your address, current declarations page, approximate construction and roof ages, recent improvements, and relevant claims history available. Confirm the insurer, policy dates, and final terms before you buy.
